MEET OUR STAFF

alex ALEX VALENTI

POSITION: READER

I’m a senior studying English and Creative Writing at MSU. I’ve also had the opportunity to research past issues of the Red Cedar Review, tracking previous works featured and those who had worked on the journal. Being able to work with this staff of smart and incredible people has been such an honor this year.

CARRIE DUDEWICZ

POSITION: READER AND ARCHIVE INTERN

I’m a senior at MSU studying English and music. In addition to being a reader for the Red Cedar Review, I also have an internship with the journal going through the archives of issues past. I’m currently a member of the MSU Symphony Band and a secretary at the Department of Advertising and Public Relations within the university. My favorite thing to do is read and, after graduation, I’ll be looking for a job that allows me to do it every day.

EMILY ORLANDO

POSITION: COPY EDITOR

I’m a third-year professional writing student here at MSU. I have a concentration in editing and publishing, and I’m also pursuing cognates in journalism and English. As the Red Cedar Review’s copyeditor, I enjoy learning and talking about grammar, and I hope to one day have a career in a field that allows me to do that every day. If you can’t find me in class or working at the RCR, I’m probably scouring the internet for new television shows to watch with a bowl of ice cream at my side.

ERIN MERLO

POSITION: MANAGING EDITOR

I am a senior double majoring in comparative cultures and politics and English and minoring in public relations. I’m a lover of black and white striped clothing, an avid reader, and a best friend to all dogs. When my nose isn’t in a book, you can find me deep in political debate, organizing anything and everything, or watching Friends. The RCR team has been amazing this year, and I’ve loved working with all of them to grow our journal. This opportunity has been a great first step in what I hope is a long career in publishing/writing.

I’ve always loved reading and writing, which was what inspired me to pursue a career in editing. On campus, I’ve enjoyed being involved with literary magazines, like the Red Cedar Review, and I hope they’ll provide good experience for my future career.
